We’re stepping into a new year with a lot on our minds. The world feels uncertain—politically, socially and environmentally. For many of the communities we support, this uncertainty feels deeply personal.
It can be overwhelming to think about the scale of what needs to change, but I find hope in knowing that meaningful progress begins with small, steady steps. At Black Sheep, we’ve spent the past year refining how we show up for that change. We’ve been re-grounding ourselves in our Mission, Vision and Values and how we act on our shared responsibility to put one foot in front of the other, even when it feels impossible. Especially when it feels impossible.
As we move into 2025, we’re carrying that renewed clarity into a new initiative I’m thrilled to share with you: our defined Social Impact Areas. In a year where the path forward might feel unclear, these Social Impact Areas give us—and, we hope, you—a way to focus our energy and attention on what matters. They remind us that progress isn’t about fixing everything at once, but about showing up with intention in the places we can make the most significant difference.

JOY
Finding and stimulating it is essential to our path forward. We believe joy is a catalyst for change, creating spaces where people thrive, feel seen and connect. By centering joy in our work and finding ways to put more of it into the world, we honor the humanity and shared spirit that drives progress.
SAFETY + SECURITY
A foundation for dignity and peace. We believe everyone deserves to live in safety, free from threats to their well-being. Our focus here is to support the systems and programs that protect and empower communities.
YOUTH + THE FUTURE
Drawing attention to and supporting the next generation of changemakers. We believe the future belongs to the rising generation and investing in their well-being is essential for lasting progress. Our work here focuses on supporting youth mental health, accelerating disruptive innovation and activating young leaders to shape a more equitable world.
